Working remotely or not working remotely

One of the lesson learned during the lockdown is that the remote working is possible for all type of business and for specific functions of the companies. During this period many misconceptions of remote working are tackled especially in the consulting area.

End users companies and consulting companies are experimenting on a real basis the use of virtual team and tools for working remotely. Now as we are beyond the existential question working remotely or not working remotely, a new questions are raised:

  • How to manage a virtual team?
To answer this question we need to review the existing management methodologies such as the collaborative management, directive management, managing by example, etc…
In order to include the remote management methodology which fits with the collaborative management from our perspective..
  • How to hire for working remotely? Which are the additional qualities and behaviors needed by a candidate to be efficient remotely?
  • And many others questions that need to be addressed in the coming days or weeks.

At Ask Consulting Luxembourg we offer outsourcing services. Thus, our offer is designed, customized and tailored to service companies responsible of SAP implementation projects, as well as the end customer throughout the implementation of the project. We work in collaboration with service companies as subcontractor in charge of the development. We have a very good network of technical offshore profiles in India and nearshore profiles in Romania, Portugal and Morocco. Our remote offer is flexible and versatile, based on time spent, fixed price or success fees.

If we may mention a positive aspect of the lockdown, it would be the wide use of remote working by companies. This includes both their employees and their consultants. Feedback have been very positive even for reluctant companies. Clients have reinforced their trust in consultants to deliver the projects, within the agreed timeframe, with no concession on quality or defined budget. In some cases with results beyond on-site expectations.

In the meantime, as working remotely is the current trend, we are working on a “remote-friendly company” label. This label would be used as a quality certification for the different business models capabilities. This label will be based on the dedicated methodology including the following aspects:

  • Building an efficient virtual team
  • Using efficient tools to work remotely
  • Defining the role of the virtual team
  • How to switch to a remote-friendly company?
  • Benefits of remote working to your business model
  • The biggest benefits of a remote workforce
  • The main reasons to integrate remote working into your workforce?
